Marbles is flooded with excitement for reimagined water play, opening June 2023!
Thanks to a visionary gift from long-time Marbles supporters Susie & Jim Erlinger, Marbles is transforming our water play exhibit with an enlarged footprint, a coastal North Carolina aesthetic and one-of-a-kind PLAY.

Have a deep sea adventure aboard the 3-story pirate ship or under the waves on the yellow science submarine. Explore, experiment and imagine oceans both near and far.

The Lighthouse - Prepare to get wet! Splash in our water tables as you discover what sinks and what floats. (Smocks and hand-dryers available.)
Under the Waves - Peek into an underwater world while surrounded by the calming sounds of the ocean. Put on a costume and pretend you're underwater too!
Science Submarine - Board the U.S.S. Science Sub and immerse yourself in science below the surface! Operate the sub at the control board, check the depth finder for deep sea creatures, conduct experiments, survey the seas, tinker in the engine room and care for marine animals discovered along the way.
The Blue Marble - Ahoy, Matey! Climb aboard the pirate ship for once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Climb up to the crow's nest to keep lookout for land, and captain the ship as you sail the North Carolina waters.
