*To receive the discount, group adults must be included in the group's payment. For anyone not included in the group's payment, please note that all tickets must be pre-purchased before arriving to the museum.

Availablity & Booking

School year group visits (September - May)

Available to pre-book Wednesday through Friday. Group capacity is limited each day.
Mondays - the museum and IMAX theater are closed.
Tuesdays - the museum has designated as no-group days for the school year.

Summer group visits (June-August)

Available to pre-book Tuesday through Friday. Group capacity is limited each day.
Mondays - the museum has designated as summer no-group days.

health & safety

Masks are now optional for all guests, staff and volunteers.
Frequent hand-washing or use of hand sanitizer is encouraged.
Water bottle filling stations are open and drinking fountains are available.

Marbles requires the following adult to child ratios for groups with children.

1:8 for groups visiting the museum with children
1:10 for groups visiting IMAX with children
Adults supervising groups must be over the age of 16 to count toward the required ratio. We cannot admit groups with fewer than the required number of adults.

Planning your Visit

Groups must pay in one transaction.
Minimum of 10 admissions from an organization or school is required to receive group pricing.
Museum play is recommended for ages 10 and under. Organize your group by age for a better play experience.
Many IMAX movies are great for all ages, while some are better suited for older kids and adults. We’re happy to help you choose the best option for your group.
Lunch space for group visits during the school year must be reserved in advance. Picnic tables are always available in the courtyard, first-come, first-served.
For IMAX group visits, reserve advance group concessions to add a delicious treat to any movie experience.
Remember to leave time to visit Shop Marbles for a wide selection of engaging and whimsical games and toys.

What information do I need to make a reservation?

Preferred visit date and time of arrival, plus an alternate date choice
Organization name, billing address and telephone number
Number of children, staff and chaperones visiting
What type of visit: museum, IMAX, or a combination of both!
Fill out the group visit request form when you have your information ready

Does our group need to wear masks?

Masks are now optional for guests, staff and volunteers.

How many chaperones do we need?

Groups visiting the museum must have a minimum of 1 adult for every 8 children.
Groups seeing an IMAX movie and not visiting the museum must have a minimum of 1 adult for every 10 children.
To be considered a chaperone, you must be at least 16 years of age.

When should we arrive?

We plan for your arrival at the time you booked. If you are early or late, you may need to wait until other groups are checked in first. Movies will start at their scheduled time and cannot be held for late arrivals.

What happens when we arrive?

Vehicles should pull up to 201 E. Hargett Street on the museum side of the street.
One designated group lead should exit the vehicle. All others should stay in the vehicle(s) until directed by Marbles staff to disembark.
Everyone visiting the museum will receive an admission sticker as the group lead finishes checking in and paying for the visit.
If you bring lunches with you, Team Marbles will show you where to store them. All lunches/snacks are required to be in boxes or coolers. We do not have storage space for individual lunch bags.

Do we need physical tickets?

Groups do not receive physical tickets for the museum or IMAX.
Groups visiting the museum will receive admission stickers from a team member at check-in.
Groups visiting IMAX do not receive tickets and will be led into the movie by a team member.
It is helpful if you have your order number handy for check-in.

When is payment due?

Payment is due upon arrival at check-in.

Where do I park?

After the group has checked in, buses will be directed to an offsite parking location.

Chaperones in individual cars should park and meet the group at the front entrance of the museum or theater. Chaperone parking options can be found here.

Where do we eat lunch?

September - May

Inside lunch space may be reserved during the school year. Requests must be made in advance and space is limited.
Picnic tables in our courtyard are available first-come, first-served.
Team Marbles will direct you where to store your lunches and how to retrieve them when you’re ready to eat.
There is a beautiful park across the street from Marbles in Moore Square.
Please note that the family snacking area inside the museum is unavailable to groups.

June - August

Picnic tables in our courtyard are available first-come, first-served. No inside eating space is available during the summer.
Team Marbles will direct you where to store your lunches and how to retrieve them when you’re ready to eat.
There is a beautiful park across the street from Marbles in Moore Square.

Is there a gift shop?

Yes! The Marbles store is located next to the main lobby and has a wide selection of games, toys and more! Please note that all children must be supervised when shopping.
