Celebration Plants the Seeds for Kid-Sized Green Thumbs

Marbles Kids Museum opens kids garden with public planting

April 24, 2009

Raleigh, NC (4/24/09) — On Saturday, April 25 from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Marbles Kids Museum will open the Castaway Cove Kids Garden with a public planting celebration. Kids and families will get their hands dirty and turn their thumbs green as they experience growing flowers, vegetables and herbs. Other activities include creating garden art with recyclables, planting and taking home your very own seedlings, and helping to make a delicious treat out of garden edibles with Green Planet Catering.

Marbles’ Castaway Cove Kids Garden will enable kids to be part of a “growing” experience from seed to sprout to harvest. Building healthy active families, one of Marbles’ guiding initiatives, takes root in this new exhibit.

The community has been a wonderful help in bringing this garden to life. Sponsors include John Rex Endowment, Food Lion, Gregory Poole Equipment Company. Also making generous contributions are Greenscape, Inc. for all landscaping; Fairview Garden Center and Homewood Nursery & Garden Center for plant material; and Rustic Garden Structures for building and construction.
