January 16, 2009Raleigh, NC (1/16/09) — Canstruction, a national competition established by the Society for Design Administration, makes its 10 appearance in Raleigh at Marbles Kids Museum. This unique food charity involves teams of architects, engineers and students designing and building giant structures entirely out of canned and packaged foods that are donated locally at the end of the exhibition. For the past nine years, this local competition has generated 232,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. This year’s local theme is Garden of Eatin’ where teams were asked to design their structures around the ideas of fruits and veggies, fitting with Marble’s focus on healthy active kids and families.
